‘Village Storm’ is inspired by ‘A Village Life’, a poetry book by Nobel Prize-winning author Louise Glück. The piece unfolds in a small, nature bound community, examining the friction between human individuality and our shared animal instincts. Private, tender moments of human connection are juxtaposed with the overwhelming presence of natural disasters - like a storm gathering in the distance.
Village Storm explores the impact of climate change on humanity through the lens of desire, self-interest and the primal need for survival. The piece asks whether, in the future, we may have to reconnect with our most basic instincts to survive - perhaps even transform ourselves, reverting back into animals?
